When and why did Quality Road go from Jimmy Jerkens Barn to Todd Pletcher’s?

Impressive off the layoff, and wasn’t an easy little field, what did you think?

Any reports from Todd Pletcher or the vets on how Quality Road came back after winning at Saratoga today?

Blaming the track for being sped up with track records being broken?

Tough to say – no doubt the move Dunkirk made sweeping by almost the whole field was impressive and often such moves in a thoroughbred mark big things to come later, but Dunkirk no doubt looked much more tired than Quality Road coming back after the wire.

Any thoughts on the race?

Was Todd Pletcher’s tirade justifiable after Dunkirk lost the Florida Derby?

According to the Blood-Horse website, Todd Pletcher may enter Europe (a horse named Europe, a son of Unbridled’s Song (!!!!) out of Zing, by Storm Cat) as a rabbit for Dunkirk to ensure that Quality Road doesn’t get loose on the lead and set a false pace. Europe has the same ownership interests as Dunkirk (Tabor, Magnier, Smith) and is a much cheaper (irony, irony) horse, only $2.6 million against $3.7 million.

So…the question is, what do you think about the use of a pacesetter to set things up for a come-from-behind stablemate? It’s a tactic with a long and honorable (dishonorable?) history, but some people consider it less than sportsmanlike.

Just wondering how trainers like Robert Frankel & Todd pletcher train their horses that they have out here west coast….Robert ( Lovely Isle) & Todd (Bsharpsonata) both have horses running on Thanks Giving day…how is that they can achieve this when most of their horses are east coast based…?
