Why is it that the worlds most powerful nations can not beat and pulverise a bunch of ragtag bearded men sitting on hillsides armed with 1918 hunting rifles the Brits left them behind during the last time they were their?

Or is that part of the world notorious for being an unwinnable frontier?

I mean mighty mighty empires before us have tried hard to defeat the Afghans and failed. To mention a few…

The Macedonian Alexander the great was infact defeated on the banks of the indus river in India after conquering all the known world. It was the stubborness of the Afghanistanis that made him turn back. Some say he died of Syphillis on his way back to Europe from his alleged homosexuality.

The Brits tried twice in the 19th and failed miserably despite having millions of Indian collaborators in their ranks. They then realised the folly of fighting the Afghans and simply just slunk across the border into India before being booted out by the frail old Mahatma Gandhi in his togos.

The same with the Russians, them young beardless white boys in their thousands ended up meeting the same awful fate countless others before them had met.

So what on earth makes us think we can do any different? Is it pride? Is it the belief that we have the latest flying machine or the latest steel beast that roars out even more firepower then before?

I mean this is just our pride and arrogance is’nt it? To think we can do any better then other people before us?

Is the war in Afghanistan an unwinnable frontier?

I found an ’08 Nissan Frontier with low miles that I would like to buy. However, it has a salvage title. A shop here in the city where I live has rebuilt the truck and it looks beautiful and has been cleared by the state to hit the road. The guy who rebuilt the truck says it had a front/side impact causing the driver’s airbag to deploy.

I have a few questions about this vehicle.

1. I’ve seen a carfax before, but IIRC, they don’t specify the type of damage to the vehicle. Is there any way to find out exactly what had happened to this truck?

2. Will I be able to insure this vehicle?

3. While it’s a salvaged truck, I would still need a loan of a few thousand dollars to buy the truck. Will banks loan money for this vehicle? If not a car loan could I get any loan for this?

3. I know if you buy a new or used car this year you can get a tax break. Does this still apply to a car that has a slavae title?

Thanks in advance.

I live in Washington state – our ‘local’ banks are Wells Fargo, Frontier Bank, Wamu, Red Canoe, US Bank, and Bank of America. I’m pretty sure Frontier and Red Canoe are smaller, NW-based banks. I don’t want a credit or debit card with the bank, just a small checking account with no service fees and as many free features as possible. Thanks to all you wise adult people!

Can anyone recommend a good checking account with no fees?

THE USA DOESN’T SUPPORT DEMOCRACY UNLESS THEY BENEFIT. ANYONE WHO TRIES TO USE THEIR COUNTRY’S RESOURCES TO BETTER THEIR PEOPLE AND CREATE A POWERFUL COUNTRY IS LABELED A TERRORIST AND COUP’ED JUST BECAUSE HE WON’T SELL OUT TO THE USA!

Half of the people on the list were dictators placed by the USA after they overthrew a democratic power.

The US dropped 7 million tons of bombs on Indochina (this usually has internal affects). After turning Vietnam into a wasteland they moved on to their heaviest bombings of Laos in the late 60′s. Tens of thousands of people have died in Laos since that time just from US cluster bombs that didn’t initially explode. What about Cambodia? Thanks to the US it’s probably the most heavily bombed country in world history. The Khmer Rouge had almost no mobilization or movement until the USA started bombing the country in the early 70′s. By the time they were done bombing there was a massive movement. Why might that have happened? What about the support the USA gave the Khmer Rouge well after the killing fields had been acknowledged?

I’m wondering, how did the USA go from east coast to west coast (with the frontier closing in 1890)? What about the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy in 1893 What about the overthrow of the Nicaraguan government in 1909, or the repeated occupations of the DR and Haiti? One can easily go on with these examples…

What about the USA policy in Iraq over the last 3 decades? What about the USA policy with regard to Israel-Palestine, and US/Israeli rejectionism? What about Turkey’s slaughtering of Kurds in the 90′s (militarily backed by the US)? What about Afghanistan? What about all those arms the USA sent to Indonesia for decades so that Suharto could slaughter hundreds of thousands defenseless East Timorese? What about the illegal Contra war? What about all that aid they gave to Guatemala in the 80′s when they were murding tens of thousands of landless peasants? What about USA policies toward Columbia? What about organizing death squads in El Salvador? What about USA history with Cuba? What about overthrowing democratically elected governments around the world? What about the arms trade? Again, one could go on and on. There’s plenty of material to suggest that the US is one of the GREATEST OBSTACLES TO PEACE…

The only reason the supply side of the USA economy is possible is because organizations like the US Military, IMF, World Bank, etc. deliberately suppress other countries and keep them poor to use for cheap labor to make the supply side of the economy possible.

The Central Banks are in control, NOT THE PEOPLE!

Organizing, funding, and arming insurgency groups. Assassinating democratically elected leaders and replacing them with juntas and dictatorships friendly to the USA..burning industries..burning crops..driving peasants off their land to make room for USA corporations..enslaving hundreds of thousands in sweat shops after depriving the people their means to live..spraying chemical weapons over crops to starve peasants..bombing villages…(incomplete list)
